MoonPay: Pioneering Compliance and Innovation in the UK Crypto Market

As many organizations cease crypto sales in the UK due to stricter regulations set for October, MoonPay took a significant step today. The company has officially registered as a crypto asset provider in the country, emphasizing its commitment to UK customers within the changing regulatory landscape.

Back in December 2022, MoonPay registered as a cryptoasset business with the UK's Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). Starting today, MoonPay's UK operations will transition to MoonPay (UK) Ltd, marking a pivotal moment.

MoonPay has adapted its services to comply with the newly introduced Travel Rule requirements in the UK, ensuring alignment with local regulations. Additionally, they have localized their services to meet the specific needs of UK customers, maintaining their commitment to transparency and trust.

To meet these new requirements, MoonPay has made significant updates to its products. This includes implementing controls and processes to ensure transactions comply with the UK's Travel Rule requirements.

They've introduced tailored terms and conditions for UK customers and a new compliance and Know Your Customer (KYC) checklist with enhanced security measures to protect consumers and prevent fraud. MoonPay has also improved its risk assessment approach to meet Money Laundering Regulations and Joint Money Laundering Steering Group Guidance Notes.

Furthermore, MoonPay is preparing to meet new requirements mandated by the FCA, as per the recently established Financial Promotion regulations, effective October 8, 2023. The company remains committed to serving UK-based customers and actively collaborates with regulatory bodies to understand and implement these changes, ensuring they stay ahead in compliance and customer trust.

In a rapidly changing regulatory environment, MoonPay is prepared to adapt swiftly, ensuring continued service to customers worldwide.

MoonPay Ventures into Web3 Gaming and Fintech

Recently, MoonPay expanded its ventures into gaming and fintech, a significant diversification of its offerings.

Unlike traditional investment models, MoonPay Ventures is charting a distinct course. Rather than adhering to a rigid fund structure, the venture invests dynamically, drawing from its own robust balance sheet. This approach is underpinned by a "definite angle" towards commercial return on investment (ROI), as emphasized by Abhay Mavalankar, VP of Corporate Development and Investments at MoonPay.
