Circle Sets September Launch for Arc Blockchain While Expanding Native USDC to OKX's X Layer

USDC is getting its biggest infrastructure expansion yet. Alongside reporting $701 million in second-quarter revenue and $73.3 billion in USDC circulation, Circle announced that its Arc blockchain will launch on September 16 while bringing native USDC and its Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol (CCTP) to OKX's X Layer.

Together, the announcements mark another step in Circle's strategy to position USDC at the center of payments, decentralized finance, tokenized assets and institutional settlement.

Arc Brings USDC to the Core of a New Blockchain

Alongside Arc, Circle is continuing to extend USDC across existing blockchain ecosystems. The company has launched native USDC and its Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol (CCTP) on OKX's X Layer, giving developers and businesses direct access to Circle-issued USDC rather than relying on bridged versions of the stablecoin.

Applications on X Layer can now use native USDC across decentralized finance, trading, treasury management, payments and tokenized asset platforms. Qualified businesses also gain access to Circle Mint, allowing them to issue and redeem USDC directly through Circle's regulated infrastructure.

The integration also enables CCTP, allowing USDC to move between supported blockchains using Circle's native burn-and-mint mechanism instead of wrapped assets or third-party bridges.

Following the launch, native USDC is now available across 36 blockchain networks, while CCTP supports transfers across 26 chains, continuing Circle's effort to make USDC one of the most interoperable stablecoins in the market.

Building the Infrastructure Behind Digital Dollars

The two announcements reflect a broader shift in Circle's strategy. For much of USDC's history, the company focused on issuing one of the world's largest regulated stablecoins. Today, it is increasingly building the infrastructure surrounding that asset.

Arc provides Circle with a blockchain optimized for institutional finance, while integrations such as X Layer ensure USDC remains widely available across the broader blockchain ecosystem. Together, they strengthen the company's position as stablecoins become increasingly central to payments, tokenized assets, decentralized finance and emerging AI-powered financial applications.

With USDC circulation continuing to reach new highs and transaction volumes accelerating sharply, Circle appears to be expanding beyond stablecoin issuance into the infrastructure layer that could underpin the next generation of digital finance.
